How it works

Both you and your Northcott therapist connect via a secure, digital communication platform – called Northcott Telecare. You’ll be able to see and hear your therapist – as if you were in the same room!

Services are available via Telehealth

Benefits of Telehealth

Improved access to services

With a shortage of allied health professionals in rural and remote areas who offer therapy services under the NDIS, Telehealth means you can connect with experienced therapists located elsewhere to access the support you need.

If services are not offered in your area, or you need to travel long distances to appointments, Telehealth enables you to access support otherwise not available or convenient for you. Using Telehealth can also reduce your wait time for therapy intervention, ensuring you get the support you need faster.

At Northcott, we offer a multidisciplinary service, so you don’t need to access multiple providers. Our full range of therapy services is available via Telehealth.

Cost-effectiveness

Travel costs can be a burden for many NDIS participants living outside main urban centres. By choosing to access Northcott’s therapy services via Telehealth, you’ll eliminate the need to travel, reducing both time and cost. This means you can put more of your NDIS funding towards the essential therapy services and supports you need to reach your goals and live the life you choose.

Consistency and continuity of care

Regular, ongoing therapy is essential if you want to achieve your goals and make progress. This continuity of care is especially important for allied health therapies, where regular, structured sessions are necessary for long-term success.

Northcott therapists are committed to supporting you and your support networks. Our team will actively collaborate with local health services to ensure on the ground and remote support is coordinated and beneficial.

Greater flexibility and convenience

With Telehealth, you can have more control over your own therapy schedules. Without the need to travel to appointments, your sessions can be booked around other activities in your day – such as work, school or caregiving responsibilities.

This flexibility can help you to fit your therapy into your daily life more seamlessly, making it easier for you to engage regularly with your allied health team and make meaningful progress towards achieving your NDIS goals.

Collaborative, family-centred care

Telehealth also allows for a more collaborative approach to care. Allied health professionals can provide guidance to carers and family members on how to implement strategies and exercises at home, ensuring that therapy continues between formal sessions. This is particularly beneficial if you live in a remote area and rely heavily on family support.

Do you or someone you know need access to Telehealth allied health services? Contact Northcott today to find out more about our Therapy services and how you can get the support you need via Telehealth.
