Meet Angela! In this interview she shares with us all the juicy details about here role and why she loves what she does.
What is your role at Northcott?
I’m a Speech Pathologist based between Campbelltown and Casula.
How long have you worked for Northcott?
I started working for Northcott in January 2020 so just over 2 and a half years. A very eventful 2.5 years as I’m sure you can imagine, but fabulous and wonderful time none the less.
How did you end up working for Northcott?
I had previously worked at an all-boys mainstream high school as an SLSO working specifically with kids with disabilities who were not able to access external disability services. I was fortunate enough to work with a few Northcott SP’s in that role so when I received an email that said Northcott were recruiting for their inaugural New Graduate Program, I knew it would be a good fit… needless to say I was correct.
What do you enjoy most about working for Northcott?
I really love working with the customers and their families. All the client facing work is my favourite (especially when I get to do it with the fabulous teams in Campbelltown and Casula).
Have there been any stand out moments for you while being at Northcott?
I was fortunate enough, last year, to develop a Parent Education Group to Support Language Development that produced some AMAZING results and was able to help a lot of families across NSW (and one family in QLD). Hearing their stories each week and helping them solve functional problems they were facing in their everyday lives was something I will always treasure. I would love to get that group up and running again. It was incredibly rewarding.
As a child, what did you want to be when you grew up?
A SPEECH PATHOLOGIST! Ever since I was about 7 I wanted to know how the voice worked, to play games, and to help people. To be fair, I thought that it was called “linguist”… It was not.
What is your favourite food?
I love everything sweet. I really love cake and pastry and cheese and chocolate biscuits but now have to be gluten free so I can’t eat any of those things.
What do you like to do in your spare time?
I’m involved in Musical Theatre and love going to shows with my family and friends. I love to sing.
What is your biggest achievement up until now?
My biggest achievement, or at least the thing I’m most proud of, is the progress and effort my customers put in each session.
