This year’s Reconciliation Week theme, Bridging Now to Next, called on all of us to connect the past and present with a shared vision for the future—one grounded in truth, respect, and meaningful action.
Across our services, staff, customers and communities came together in powerful and thoughtful ways to honour the week.
Campbelltown Reconciliation highlights
Over 60 people attended our Campbelltown event, including staff, customers, Northcott’s Yarning Circle, and Northcott/Tharawal Playgroup families. Acknowledgment to Country was led by Jodie Bell, Manager at our partner service, Waranwarin Child and Family Centre (part of Tharawal Aboriginal Corporation), who also shared a moving explanation of Reconciliation Week’s origins and importance.
Playgroup staff and the Campbelltown Work & Study participants prepared all the food on-site over two days, incorporating Indigenous herbs into most dishes—a beautiful way to celebrate culture through food.
Our team also proudly attended the 9th Indigenous Veterans Ceremony at Hyde Park War Memorial on Friday, 30 May, alongside the Yarning Circle.

Parramatta event
Our Parramatta centre opened Reconciliation Week with a traditional Smoking Ceremony, led by Uncle Raymond (Bubbly) Weatherall. The ceremony was followed by an afternoon tea in the back courtyard, shared with staff and customers. We’re deeply thankful to Uncle Raymond for generously sharing his culture, wisdom—and laughs—with us.

Ballina event
The Ballina team had a meaningful discussion on the importance of Welcome to Country ceremonies, highlighting their role in acknowledging and respecting the Traditional Custodians of the land.
Staff and customers also participated in a reconciliation-themed colouring activity, which provided a creative way to engage with the theme of the week.
The event ended with a relaxed and inclusive afternoon tea, participants an opportunity to share stories, build relationships, and continue conversations about reconciliation in a welcoming environment.
Reconciliation is everyone’s business. It starts with listening, learning, and taking steps—big or small—toward a more inclusive and united future. Thank you to everyone who contributed and participated across the week.
