Love Rights: Creating safer communities together

News Sexuality and Relationship Education

Every person deserves to feel safe, respected and valued, especially in their closest relationships and everyday interactions. Sadly, people with disability are at a much higher risk of experiencing sexual violence. Too often, their voices go unheard and harmful attitudes go unchallenged.
The Love Rights project was created to change that.
Over the past year, people with disability, their families and carers, disability support staff and community partners have come together with one goal: to build safer spaces where everyone’s rights are recognised and protected. Together, they helped shape practical tools and powerful stories that shine a light on the issue and offer hope for change.

Now, we’re proud to share these resources with the public. Here, you’ll find:

  • A short explainer video that introduces the project
  • Two short films, Love Rights and Specificity, that bring lived experiences to life
  • An Educational resource – to be used in conjunction with the films

These resources aren’t just about raising awareness, they’re about starting conversations, challenging harmful behaviours and empowering people to take action early.

The Love Rights project was funded by the NSW Government and shaped with the insight and lived experience of people with disability, along with the dedication of staff and partners across the community.

This is more than a project. It’s a movement towards respect, equality and safety. And it belongs to all of us.

Explore the Love Rights resources today, watch the films, and share them with your networks.

Together, we can create safer, more inclusive communities where everyone’s rights are protected.
