Learn to make your workplace disability friendly

News

Are you an employer looking for ways to make your workplace more inclusive?

Northcott would like to invite you to the NEXT Employers’ Tool Kit Workshop to discuss with you the benefits of considering candidates with disability. We will also discuss the ways in which you can build the capacity and confidence of your workplace to recruit, employ and support youth with disability in sustainable employment.

What is NEXT?

The Northcott Experience Tasker (NEXT) program will boost employment pathways for youth with disability while meeting the labour shortages of industries and employers.

Through this program funded by Citi Bank, youth with disability aged 17- 24 are being supported to develop employability skills through focused work experience, targeted training, and mentoring opportunities.

Meeting the needs of the current labour market

Almost one in five persons in Australia has a disability. As an employer with a recruitment need, it makes sense to access this enormous pool of candidates.

During these free workshops we will be developing the capacity and confidence of local employers to employ youth with disability and to meet their labour force needs.

Topics that will be discussed are:

  • Unconscious bias
  • Job carving
  • Funding available for workplace modifications
  • Other supports currently available to employers when employing someone with disability.

If you are an employer join us for business after five to discuss the current challenges facing youth with disability and the opportunities available to you as an employer.
