Create a fulfilling and satisfying social life
Meeting new people, trying new experiences and learning new skills are some of the things that make life more fun. By taking time out for yourself to socialise with people your own age, you’ll build your confidence, make new friends, and open up your experience of life.
If you’re aged 12 to 17 years, our Recreation & Social Outing service offers a great range of interest-based activities you’ll love. It might be going out to see sporting events, concerts or movies. Or something a little more active like bowling, tennis or swimming. Whatever you’re into, there’s something for everyone to enjoy.
We plan our activities at least three months in advance, and we love to get your help in organising all the fun. Maybe you’d like to go bushwalking or play basketball, learn to dance or take an art class. You can let us know what you like so we can make sure we’re offering some of the activities that interest you.
It’s important to take a break from everyday life in a relaxing and supportive environment. With our weekend and school holiday activities, you’ll feel energised and happy, and boost your overall health.

Develop your social connections
By spending time with others in a relaxed social setting, you’ll meet many different people, share fun experiences, and make new friends who enjoy the same things you do. You’ll be able to build your communication skills and feel comfortable in a range of different settings. Become skilled at taking part in conversations and maintaining positive interactions.
Learn independent life skills
Socialising is a skill like any other that you can learn and get better at over time. The more you practice, your confidence will grow, and you’ll want to try new things. You’ll develop team-building skills as you mix with others and make positive connections in the community. You’ll also build resilience and your decision-making skills as you take part in activities you haven’t experienced before. The skills you pick up along the way will enable you to create a more independent life.
Support from an experienced team
Our caring team can give you the support you need to get started with your recreation and social outings. As you build your social skills, you can start participating independently, or make connections with others that will enable you to take part regularly. If required, you can access ongoing support to be a part of all the activities you love or would like to try.
