Lots of fun at the Camden colour run

News Recreation

What is Ready, Set, Run?

Ready, Set, Run is a sport gala that was designed to be inclusive and exciting with lively entertainment. The goal of the gala is to bring people with a disability together for a day of fun!

Young adults from the community were excited to attend and learn more about Northcott, while our customers enjoyed catching up and meeting new people.

There were activities for everyone to enjoy. Dancing music and face painting were the crowd favourite.

I am having fun. I came for the colour run and I got three face paints

A visit from the NSW Rugby League

Another highlight was when The NSW Wheelchair Rugby League club came by. They brought along a truck full of rugby league wheelchairs and invited everyone to try them out in a competitive game of rugby league on the courts.

I tried Rugby League, basketball, and popcorn

Along with all the fun games and activities to take part in, there was popcorn, fairy floss, sausage sizzles and slushies to keep everyone cool.

The event organisers from Campbelltown rounded up a few sponsors who supplied sunglasses and water bottles for the event. Our Work + Study participants from Campbelltown even had a stall up! They sold their range of candles. They make, package, and sell the candles themselves to learn business skills.

The colour run involved a series of obstacles for participants to get through all while being covered in coloured powders thrown by the volunteers.

Thank you!

The success of the event was made possible by the incredible Northcott staff from West and North West Sydney who turned up and ensured that everybody finished the day with a smile on their faces.

“We were fortunate to have NSW Rugby League come. They shared their passion, remarkable stories and connect with our individual differences through various games of Wheelchair Rugby League. To see everyone give it a go, combat the heat and blistering sun, all with similes and laughter, is a simple reminder of why I do what I do.

As for the Colour Run, wow! What a spectacular event that guaranteed an unforgettable experience for all!! I cannot wait to start planning for an even better event with colour for 2024,” says Danica, Regional Admin Assistant.

This event was generously funded by the Camden Council.
