Feel your best with dietary and nutritional advice for your health and wellbeing

Taking care of your health and wellbeing

A nutritious diet is vital when it comes to taking care of your health and wellbeing. When you’re feeling your best physically and mentally, it empowers you to get more out of life. For younger people, healthy food choices fuel your growth and development, and give you the energy to play, learn and build your life skills. As you get older, maintaining your health enables you to take part in the daily activities of life, both at home and in the community, and create a more independent life.

Each [person’s] environment, culture, routine, medical conditions, body functions and psychology all have huge roles to play in what and how they eat

Dana – Dietician

Our Dietetic services give you the skills you need to improve your daily eating habits. Our committed Accredited Practising Dietitians work closely with you and the people who support you, like a parent or support worker, to achieve your dietary and nutrition goals.

There are many reasons why you might benefit from accessing our Dietetic services. You might be not getting enough nutrition due to difficulty with chewing and swallowing, fussy eating behaviour or experiencing excessive weight gain or weight loss. Others might be facing health conditions like diabetes, high cholesterol or gut issues, such as constipation, diarrhoea or bloating. Medications can also impact your eating habits. And for those who use a feeding tube, it’s important to get all the vitamins, minerals and other essential nutrients you need for optimal health.

How our accredited practicing dietitians can support you

With the right advice, you’ll feel more confident and in control at mealtimes, boost your physical health and mental wellbeing, and enjoy a better quality of life.

Creating meal plans tailored for you

A meal plan takes the guesswork out of mealtimes and empowers you to make good food choices. Perhaps you’re vegetarian or vegan, have food allergies, experiencing gut issues like diarrhoea or constipation or have food intolerances. You may need to manage a health condition, like coeliac disease, inflammatory bowel disease or diabetes. Our trained dietitians can create the right meal plan for you.

Reaching and maintaining a goal weight

Maintaining a healthy weight is important to your overall wellbeing. Weight gain, unintentional weight loss or malnutrition can affect your ability to take an active part in life. Our experienced dietitians can work with you to achieve your goal weight.

Dietary advice for different life stages

Depending on your stage of life, you may have different nutritional goals. If you’re younger, you want your diet to support optimal growth and development. Pregnancy and breastfeeding are times when extra nutrients are needed. And as you get older, you want to ensure your diet is providing adequate nutrition for good health.

Working alongside other specialists to achieve your goals

If you have difficulties with chewing or swallowing, our Dieteticions can work alongside Speech Therapists and Occupational Therapists to ensure mealtimes are safe and enjoyable.

Changing challenging mealtime behaviours

If you’re having a difficult relationship with food, like food refusal, or disordered eating, we can work with you to change the food-related behaviours that stand in the  way of a healthier lifestyle.

Providing education about nutrition

There can be a lot to learn when it comes to food and nutrition. Whether it’s understanding food labels, menu planning, portion sizes, shopping or meal preparation, the more you know the better equipped you are to manage mealtimes independently.

Managing non-oral (tube) feeding

Whatever mealtimes look like for you, meeting your nutritional need goals is our priority. Getting enough vitamins, minerals, proteins, carbohydrates, fats and essential nutrients to be healthy, along with any medications, can be achieved with proper feeding tube care and management.
