Jodie is deaf and was born on International Sign Language Day, September 23 which is quite coincidental as Auslan is her first language. Auslan is the language of the deaf community in Australia.
Jodie’s love for bowling
Jodie began her bowling journey in 2016. She is supported by her Northcott team to attend practice every Saturday morning.
Through bowling Jodie has made lots of great friends. Some of them even helped Jodie celebrate her birthday this past weekend.
Competing in the disability bowling championships
In early September Jodie and one of her housemates travelled to Albury for Jodie to compete in the Wagga Wagga Disability Championships and Masters Bowling Tournament.
The morning of the championship was an exciting time for Jodie. She was so excited to compete and had an incredibly successful day, returning with four medals!
“Jodie was extremely proud of herself as we all are as well. Jodie loved showing everyone at the house her medals,” says Debbie.
Jodie embraces Northcott’s mission statement every day. She lives passionately and is working to be the best version of herself.
Jodie’s future goals
Jodie is working towards gaining a greater sense of independence with a positive attitude and is open to trying anything new. Her main goal at the moment is to go on a short holiday to see new places.
