12 Days of Wholesome Christmas Recipes

Dietetics News

A festive cookbook designed for families of all abilities

Christmas is a time for togetherness, celebration and creating traditions — and the kitchen can be one of the most joyful places to share those moments.

This festive season, Northcott’s Dietetics team is delighted to share 12 Days of Wholesome Christmas Recipes, a free, family-friendly cookbook inspired by the classic carol we all know and love. Filled with colourful, nutritious recipes made from wholefoods, this booklet invites families of all abilities to cook, learn and celebrate together.

Festive food made simple and fun

Wholefoods are nature’s gifts — packed with nutrients, energy and flavour. With a little creativity, they can become festive, delicious meals that everyone can enjoy. Each of the 12 recipes in this booklet has been carefully designed to be approachable, adaptable and engaging, with helpful tips, fun food facts and hidden “secrets” to spark curiosity in young chefs.

Whether it’s mixing, tasting, decorating or simply being part of the process, every recipe offers opportunities for children and family members to participate in ways that suit them.

The joy of cooking together

Cooking as a family is about more than preparing a meal. It’s a chance to:

  • Build confidence as children develop new skills and discover they can create something delicious
  • Encourage food exploration, helping kids feel more comfortable trying new flavours and ingredients
  • Create meaningful routines and traditions that support learning, connection and joy

For families of children with disability, these shared moments can also support independence, communication and sensory experiences — all while having fun together.

Keep the celebration going

To further develop those kitchen skills, Northcott is also offering Holiday Healthy Chefs cooking sessions, led by our experienced team. These hands-on sessions extend the ideas from the cookbook and give children and young people the chance to build skills in a supportive, inclusive environment.

Available at Parramatta and Campbelltown: find out more and book here.
