What I Will Be Doing:
As a Support Worker at Northcott, I’ll be working in a day program setting, where my role is to help customers live as independently and confidently as possible. I'll support them in building daily living skills, staying healthy and safe, and keeping connected to their community.
- I’ll facilitate fun and engaging group activities, including art, music, drama, and gardening.
- I’ll assist with manual handling, using equipment like hoists and transfer aids to ensure safety and comfort.
- I’ll provide community access, promoting social inclusion and organising everyday outings. Plus, I’ll be happy to drive a wheelchair-accessible van to get people where they need to go.
- I’ll work a flexible rotating roster from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, with the possibility of weekend shifts—perfect for balancing life outside of work!
- I’ll collaborate closely with clinical teams, families, and peers to deliver positive behaviour support strategies, making sure every person feels respected, understood, and empowered.
- I’ll follow individual care plans to support specific health needs like epilepsy and wound care.
- I’ll assist with mealtime support, making sure customers receive meals according to mealtime management plans.
- I’ll help with personal care, always ensuring dignity and independence are at the forefront.
- I’ll encourage and support daily living skills, empowering customers to grow in confidence and independence.
