About the role          

Northcott’s Orthotics and Custom Footwear service delivers a range of custom orthotic and footwear solutions to support the mobility and posture needs of children and adults with disability. Operating for more than 80 years, Northcott’s Orthotics and Footwear service supports customers to access a range of customised orthoses, fabricated using traditional and/or digital means.

Some of the day to day duties you will be a part of include:

  • Assessment, measurement, fabrication and provision of orthotic solutions suited to the specific needs of adults and children with disability;
  • Provision of comprehensive orthotic services inline with various funding body requirements e.g. NDIS, Enable NSW
  • Fabrication of orthoses using traditional and/or digital methodologies
  • Provision of centre based and community based services (where appropriate)
  • Provision of multidisciplinary solutions alongside Northcott’s Allied Health team (pedorthists, physiotherapists, occupational therapists)
  • Collaboration with internal and external stakeholders, including the customer and their support network
  • Participation in emerging opportunities including research, pilot projects and service innovations

About you and your skills/experience

  • Tertiary qualifications in Orthotics and Prosthetics
  • Current registration with The Australian Orthotic Prosthetic Association (AOPA)
  • Experience working as a clinician within the disability sector
  • Knowledge of strengths-based practice, as well as family and person centred approaches.
  • Experience in leading critical reflection, applying theoretical frameworks and referring to research and literature to inform clinical practice.
