Our Occupational Therapy service supports people with disability to do the things they need and want to do in their home and community.
Our occupational therapists can support you to:
- Develop your daily living skills
- Support your child’s development
- Identify equipment for mobility and daily living
- Discover solutions to access your home, school and community
What we can offer
Our occupational therapists can support our customers in a number of ways:
Individual assessment and advice
We will meet with customers to discuss goals, identify supports or programs that are currently in place, and support them to further improve their skills in the home and community.
Personalised intervention programs
We can assist customers to access a range of therapeutic options, determine the best options for their specific needs and design a personalised intervention program.
We can provide a personalised assessment and intervention program that addresses areas such as:
- Self-care
- Education and work
- Leisure
- Play skills and engagement
- Fine motor skill development
- Sensory processing development
- Mobility and daily living equipment
- Manual handling
- Home and community access
What our customers can expect from us
We are committed to our customers. As part of our service delivery, our customers can expect:
Personalised service
- A unique individual plan tailored to your needs and preferences
- One-on-one individual or group sessions in your home, in our centre and/or in the community – including schools and day-care centres
- Ongoing sessions to improve daily living skills, address developmental areas, organise trials for mobility and daily living equipment or access solutions
An integrated approach
- Consultation with other Northcott therapists – including speech therapists, physiotherapists, and a dietitian, to support you with your daily living needs
A high quality evidence-based service
- All of our occupational therapists are registered and accredited with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA), which regulates Australia’s health practitioners and supports the Occupational Therapy Board of Australia
- Our occupational therapists participate in continuing professional development to improve knowledge and competence through internal training, mentoring, external workshops and conferences
When and where this service is available
Our services are available Monday to Friday. We provide services at our centres and we can travel to your home or the community from the following centre locations:
- North Parramatta
- Campbelltown
- Hurstville
- Seven Hills
- Penrith
- Albury
- Wagga Wagga
- Newcastle
- Moree
- Ballina
- Canberra
Additional funding information
The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) will use the following terms to describe funding our customers can use to purchase Occupational Therapist services:
- Improved daily living
Not eligible for the NDIS?
We are also able to provide services through the following funding bodies:
- HCWA (Helping Children With Autism)/ BetterStart package
- Medicare Rebates/Private health insurance
