Northcott’s Reconciliation Journey: A call to action

Careers News

This year’s National Reconciliation Week theme, “Now More Than Ever,” is a powerful reminder of the ongoing need for commitment and action. These four impactful words call on the 6.2 million Australians who voted Yes to dedicate themselves to improving outcomes for First Nations people. Reconciliation Week will run from Monday 27 May 2024 to 3 June 2024.

As a leader in the Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) network, Northcott, along with hundreds of other organisations, plays a crucial role in harnessing the goodwill of millions of Australians to tackle the unfinished business of reconciliation.

Northcott’s Reconciliation journey began in 2012 and we are now recognised as a leader by Reconciliation Australia as we draft our third Stretch RAP.

This journey has given us a better understanding of what leadership looks like in a post-referendum world: listening to First Nations voices, understanding the truth about our shared history, and rejecting racism. Our work continues, and our commitment is stronger than ever.

Our organisation has shown strong, meaningful engagement with both internal and external Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander stakeholders. We have developed a robust approach to advancing reconciliation within our organisation and our wider community. Our next Stretch RAP will embed reconciliation initiatives into our business strategies, making them a vital part of our operations.

The new Stretch RAP will span three years and focus on high-impact commitments with defined, measurable targets and goals.

As we move forward, let’s reflect on our shared history and commit to fostering an inclusive and respectful future for all.

Join in celebrating National Reconciliation Week. Engage with the resources shared below and join in on the events held in your location, listen to First Nations voices, and contribute to our ongoing journey. Together, we can build a more inclusive and respectful future.
