Your eligibility checklist

If you meet the following requirements you may be eligible for NDIS funding:

• Under the age of 65 years
• You’re an Australian citizen, permanent resident, or Protected Special Category Visa holder
• You live in Australia
• You have a disability caused by a permanent impairment
• You usually need disability-specific supports to complete daily life activities
• You need some supports now to reduce your future need for support
• Your family needs some supports now to build their skills to help you

Your next steps to receive disability support

If you believe you’re eligible for NDIS funding, you can:

• Contact your local NDIS office, NDIS partner or call 1800 800 110 and ask for an NDIS Access Request Form
• Complete the form and email it to [email protected] or mail a printed copy to PO Box 700, Canberra, ACT 2601, including your supporting information
• Get support with your application:
  • An NDIS partner may offer local area coordinator services, where they will learn about your situation and goals to help develop your plan
  • If you have a child younger than 9, an early childhood partner can provide supports to your child before they apply, and discuss whether the NDIS is right for them.

Understanding support budgets

The funding you receive is categorised to support you in living your life in a way that works for you. There are three types of support budgets you can receive funding for in your NDIS plan:

• Core Supports budget: Offers support for your everyday activities and current disability-related needs, designed so you can work towards your goals.
• Capacity Building Supports budget: Build your independence and skills so you can achieve your goals. 
• Capital Supports budget: Access more expensive pieces of assistive technology, equipment, and home or vehicle modifications, and receive funding for one-off purchases (including Specialist Disability Accommodation)

If you want to create a more independent life and are looking for accessible disability housing, our accommodation options include:

• Supported Independent Living and Specialist Supported Living: Live independently but get the in-home supports you need.
• Specialist Supported Living: You’ll have access to specialist nursing staff, along with assistance for your daily needs and specialised transport.
