About the role:

Northcott is on the look-out for a Senior Accountant to join our team on a full-time temp position for 6 months. The role is based in North Parramatta with a salary paying $120,000 pro rata.

The Senior Accountant is accountable for financial accounting processes at Northcott ensuring balance sheet accounts and supporting schedules meet Australian statutory accounting requirements and that Northcotts financials are accurate and timely. The role will include month end journals, balance sheet reconciliations.  The role will rapidly learn the business and finance environment.

Some of the responsibilities you’ll be doing:

  • Support delivery of the month-end close process, including maintaining the close timetable, coordinating inputs, and meeting reporting deadlines.
  • Prepare, review and post month-end journals (e.g., accruals, prepayments, provisions, payroll, allocations, fixed assets, lease accounting and intercompany), ensuring appropriate support and approvals.
  • Complete monthly balance sheet reconciliations for assigned accounts, ensuring reconciling items are investigated and resolved in a timely manner.
  • Maintain reconciliation schedules and supporting documentation to an audit-ready standard, including clear explanations for movements and variances.
  • Partner with operational leaders and finance stakeholders to resolve accounting issues and ensure accurate coding, cut-off and treatment of transactions.

Essential Skills and Experience:

  • CPA/CA qualified (or near completion), with strong grounding in statutory reporting.
  • Intermediate to advanced excel skills.
  • Strong technical accounting capability (AASB/IFRS), especially balance sheet recognition, measurement, and disclosure.
  • Advanced balance sheet reconciliation and financial control skills—able to uplift quality quickly.
  • Strong stakeholder management: can coordinate inputs across multiple teams and drive deadlines.
  • Excellent written communication—able to prepare audit-ready schedules, position papers, and clear response
  • Highly organised: able to run trackers, document control, and manage competing priorities to deadlines.
