About the role:

Are you someone that is caring & compassionate, who wants to make a difference in the lives of people with a disability? Reporting to the Coordinator, you will be required to support our valued customers to achieve their everyday goals. 

Our Every Day Life Skills & Skills 4 Life programs have a strong focus on helping our customers to learn the skills needed to achieve their individual goals through the programs that we offer.

This role would suit those with a genuine desire to promote the independence and inclusion in society of people with disability or developmental delay as well as a desire to support individuals to have a voice, choice, and exercise control over their own lives to achieve their individual goals.

Our programs assist young people to learn social skills, independent living skills including cooking and travel training, with plenty of focus on creativity and wellbeing too. You will be supporting participants to access to the community and engage with peers.

There are a variety of shifts on offer:

  • 12 to 20hrs per fortnight on offer
  • Shifts include Monday afternoons, Wednesday's & Fridays during the day
  • Potential of weekend shifts as required

Desirable:

  • Experience in the disability sector
  • Experience supporting customers aged 12 to 30 years of age
  • Experience in Everyday Life Skills and/or Vocational Skills

Essential Criteria:

  • A demonstrated commitment to supporting and promoting the individual needs of our customers
  • Ability to develop positive relationships with our customers and to support their individual care plans, as appropriate.
  • Experience supporting customers with psychosocial disability, dementia, Intellectual disability, Acquired brain injury, physical disability, epilepsy and behaviours of concern.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. 
  • A current Driver's Licence
  • QLD Blue Card (or willingness to obtain)
  • NDIS Worker Check (or willingness to obtain)
  • NDIS Worker Orientation Certificate - "Quality, Safety & You".
  • Current First Aid and CPR certificate (or willingness to obtain)
