Northcott’s Early Childhood team in Mayfield offers a full-time position until 30 June 2025, with the possibility of an extension. Who are we?

Northcott is an Early Childhood partner contracted to deliver the NDIS Early Childhood Approach (ECA) service to local communities in Northern NSW, Mid North Coast, Hunter New England, Northern Sydney, and Western Sydney. The EC approach supports children aged 0-9 with developmental concerns, delays, and/or disabilities.

What does this role look like daily? 

The key focus of our Early Childhood First Nations Community Coordinator will be working with First Nations children with disabilities and developmental delays and their families to determine the best supports for their improved independence, social participation, and quality of life. The coordinator will also connect with the local community to build networks and pathways that create inclusion opportunities for First Nations children with disabilities and their families to access Early Childhood Services.

The essential requirements we would like you to have are:

  • Being an Australian First Nations person is a genuine occupational qualification for this position under the Anti-Discrimination Act section 14D.
  • Experience engaging with First Nations people to understand what their needs are and experience providing support to First Nations families.
  • Knowledge of developmental milestones for children aged 0-9 years
  • Knowledge of and connection with local First Nations communities.
  • A strong understanding of typical childhood development and the impact of disability and developmental delay on a First Nations child and their family.
  • Experience in connecting and building working relationships with local community and mainstream services.
  • Ability to promote a culturally safe work environment.
  • Knowledge of the Child Protection Legislation and the principles of Keep Them Safe.

Other requirements to work at Northcott include:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Early Childhood or Allied Health profession.
  • A reference from an Aboriginal Organisation, Corporation or Community Elders Group.
  • Confirmation of Aboriginality with common seal.
  • Current Driver's Licence - P1 minimum.
  • Valid Working with Children’s Check Clearance – mandatory.
  • Valid NDIS Worker Screening Check (NDIS WC) or willingness to obtain – mandatory.
  • Working Rights in Australia for Full-Time Employment.
  • Successful pre-employment probity check.

The role will be based in our Mayfield office and cover the local region. It involves some travel to meet the children and their families/carers in their community and home environment.
