About the Role:

Northcott, alongside Northcott Innovation, is creating an Australian-first space where complex design challenges within supported accommodation/housing for people with disability can be explored. The "Supported Living Lab" aims to:

• Identify complex problems within the supported living/supported accommodation ecosystem
• Establish a co-design approach that is accessible to people with complex disability, the staff who support them and their families/carers, enabling them to identify and develop their own innovative solutions
• Explore and create solutions that improve the quality of life of people with disability; or that drive improvements and excellence in service delivery

Day to day duties will include (but are not limited to):

• Establishing a design framework which will form the foundation for all lab activities/projects
• Framing and implementing co-design practices to ensure the voices of people with disability who live in supported accommodation settings are heard and valued
• Leading the lab and its staff towards achieving identified strategic goals
• Developing strategic relationships with funders, universities and external stakeholders to ensure success and sustainability across all lab activities
• Effectively operate the lab within budget

The successful manager must have the following:

• Tertiary qualifications in Design (Service, Visual, Strategic, Design Research) or similar fields
• Experience in leading the use of design in a social innovation context
• Experience in management and/or leadership roles
• Demonstrated flexibility, resilience and determination to pursue innovation in a changing environment
• Demonstrated knowledge of tertiary institutions with the ability to facilitate industry-led collaborations, as well as undergraduate and postgraduate initiatives
