Montrose Therapy & Respite services is now part of Northcott. We work in Queensland to provide supports to children and young adults with physical disabilities, neuromuscular conditions, developmental delay, intellectual disability and autism.
What we do
Northcott teams deliver Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, Speech Pathology, Support Coordination and Social Work. Therapy Centres are located across South East Queensland including Brisbane, Gold Coast, Sunshine Coast, Slacks Creek, Ipswich and Toowoomba.
All centres also offer confidence-building skills programs and social groups for teens and young adults.
Our Short and Medium Term Accommodation on the Gold Coast is known as Our Getaway. It was custom built as a warm, welcoming respite environment with large open social spaces, extensive accessibility features plus a gaming room.
Ninety years ago, the world was in the grip of a Polio epidemic. Those who survived were often left with significant physical disabilities, requiring ongoing care. In 1932, Brisbane Rotary arranged a public meeting at Brisbane City Hall to discuss how assistance for children could be provided and from this meeting the Queensland Society for Crippled Children was formed.
Brisbane philanthropist Mr George Marchant donated his home at Taringa to the Society. That home was originally known as “Montrose” – the name Montrose has featured throughout our history eventually becoming our “official” name in 2014.
In 2022, Montrose became part of Northcott.
