Northcott Occupational Therapist Lauren Whitby believes the most important part of her job is to get the best results for her customers and their families.

This is one of the many reasons why she has won Northcott’s 2019 Employee of the Year Award.

“It’s a shock to win. Humbling is definitely the word. I’m very grateful for the acknowledgement I’ve been given,” says Lauren.

She is also quick to say that everything she has achieved is because of her team in Campbelltown.

“I’m lucky to be part of such an amazing team. They’re what keep me going,” says Lauren.

Having worked for Northcott for over three years, Lauren is described by her co-workers as being a great team player with a wealth of knowledge.

“Customers are impressed and appreciative of the support she provides… even when times are tough, Lauren remains calm and optimistic,” says Danielle Coogan, Lauren’s manager.

When Lauren graduated from university, she was determined to wait for the perfect role that she really felt connected to.

“When I saw the Northcott job was about improving the lives of people with disability, it sounded absolutely perfect,” she says.

Having previously worked as a support worker, Lauren hoped her flexibility and ability to deal with any given situation would be an asset to the organisation.

“I think the job is about improving people’s independence and trying to upskill and support the kids and their families in whatever way you can.”

Now, as Employee of the Year, Lauren says she is “very proud to work for Northcott.”
