Expanding our therapy outreach services in Queensland
We’re excited to share that our therapy outreach services in Queensland are growing!
Meet the Queensland outreach team
The therapists offering outreach services across Queensland are:
- Physiotherapist – Kyah
- Therapy Assistant – Liam
- Speech therapy – Maddie, Hayley & Isabella
- Occupational Therapy – Bree, Mel & Samantha
Kyah is a new addition to the team. She provides assessments and creates exercise programs which are carried out by a local therapy assistant. Kyah is now regularly supporting people with disability in regional areas with gross motor skills, providing strategies to improve balance, coordination and flexibility, improving functional mobility and providing strategies to manage developmental delays.
Northcott’s speech and occupational therapists have been improving outcomes for individuals and families by supporting them to meet social goals, improve communication skills, improve community access and engage in the school environment.
Building connections with community
By building on connections with local schools and healthcare providers our therapists have been working with local therapy assistants to deliver services and to build on Northcott’s reputation and to increase understanding of the supports that are available through the NDIS.
The team has also been working with Primary Healthcare Provider Carbal Medical Services to build connections with the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities in Warwick.
Looking ahead
Using the service delivery model of having a local therapy assistant carry out services established by our therapists, our team have been able to build their caseloads and take on new clients for assessments and programs. This framework is allowing the team to expand even further, as they are looking to expand to Bundaberg, Hervey Bay and surrounding areas in the near future.
Accessibility and Inclusivity
We respect and honour Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Elders past, present and future. We acknowledge the stories, traditions and living cultures of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples on this land and commit to building a brighter future together.
