Disability Housing with Northcott Illawarra

Northcott is a significant provider of Supported Independent Living (SIL) services in New South Wales.

We have a growing selection of properties, but we also offer support to people who are just starting their disability housing journey – helping you prepare, plan and connect with future housing opportunities – this could be for those with SIL funding, and those with both SIL and SDA funding.

For people with disability and families – a place to start your housing journey

If you’re exploring disability housing in the Illawarra region, Northcott can help you take the next step. Our approach starts with you. We listen to your needs, preferences and goals, then work with our housing partners to identify the right home to suit you.

We can support you by:

  • Talking through your housing goals and what a good home looks like for you
  • Helping you understand your disability housing options, including NDIS pathways
  • Supporting you to prepare for future housing, whether that’s gathering information, thinking about funding or planning ahead
  • Helping identify suitable properties that suit your needs. We work with a range of SDA partners to offer long term, suitable housing for people with disability.

We know that finding the right home takes time, and that every person’s needs are different. By starting the conversation early, we can work with you to understand what matters most and help you be ready when a suitable property is available.

Even if you’re not able to move today, getting connected now means you’ll be better placed for the future.

NDIS housing FAQs

What’s the difference between SIL and SDA?

The SDA is the housing provider, they manage the property or accommodation. SIL is the service provider, they manage the supports to residents in the house, this includes support with daily life, accessing the community, assistance with preparing meals and personal care.

Northcott is and NDIS funded SIL provider, we have a range of disability accommodation with current vacancies available. If you have SIL and/or SDA funding in your NDIS plan, your Support Coordinator can help you apply and go through the process with you.

What is NDIS supported accommodation? And can my family visit me?

This is typically specialised housing designed with home modifications in mind for accessibility needs. SDA homes can be shared living properties with a number of NDIS participants.

This is your home, your friends and families can visit you. We encourage spending quality time whether it’s in the home our out in the community together.

What wouldn’t the NDIS fund?

Supported independent living funding can not be used for things like rent or other day-to-day costs like groceries.

Accessibility and Inclusivity
