About The Role

About the Role:

This is a Senior Support Worker level 3 position located in Hornsby. The role aims to support the Coordinator with the day to day operation of centre based programs and to assist with coordination and supervision of activities within the programs. You will be required to work autonomously, driving the growth of programs, as well as playing an important role within the team. 

Key components of the role include but are not limited to:

  • Problem Solving & Decision Making - Defines extent of problem areas and develops solutions.
  • Communication - Listens effectively, conveys and receives ideas, information and direction
  • Ethical Behaviour - Ensures their dealings with all others are non-discriminatory, respectful, consistent, timely and equitable.
  • Safety - Has a strong understanding of WHS principles and applies these in the workplace.

What we are looking for from you:

  • Demonstrated experience working with people with disability, assisting them to achieve outcomes.
  • Ability to establish effective and professional working relationships with customers and their families/carers/support network
  • Experience in using initiative, working both autonomously and as part of a team
  • Highly developed communication, problem solving and organisational skills
  • Ability to engage and build relationships with external stakeholders
  • Commitment to a person-centred work ethic
  • Flexibility and presence of mind to deal with change under pressure.

Essential Criteria for the role:

  • Experience working with people with disability, assisting them to achieve their goals and outcomes
  • Experience in using initiative, working both autonomously and as part of a team
  • Engaging and approachable personality
  • Current First Aid Certificate (include a copy in your application)
  • Current NSW Working With Children Check (include the registration number in your application)
  • Current Driver’s Licence (will be sighted at interview)
  • Evidence of compliance with any Public Health Orders applicable at the time – including evidence of a COVID-19 vaccination or medical contraindication certificate if applicable to you.
  • NDIS Worker Check - https://www.service.nsw.gov.au/ndiswc
  • Knowledge of the NSW Disability Standards
  • Knowledge of WHS principles including safe manual handling procedures
