Continuing to support the people of Penrith

Today is a new era for Northcott in Western Sydney with the formal opening of the Northcott Penrith office.

Working with the local community for over a decade, hundreds of people with disability and their families have been supported through our many services.

Mitch Power is one customer who is benefiting from the Life Skills service. He recently completed forklift training to help with his job.

“A couple of months back I got forklift training. I did the course with another student from here,” Mitch says.

“We did a lot of practical work, did some activities, and met a really nice man who taught us everything.”

Mitch says getting on the forklift for the first time was hard, but with the support of Northcott the training really helped improve his skills.

“I do feel confident every time I go on the forklift now. I get better at the job and my boss is happier.”

Acting CEO Lee Carpenter joined Mitch in cutting the ribbon at the official opening, saying that Northcott is all about supporting individuals to live their best life.

“Every one of our customers is unique,” he says.

The Penrith office has had many great achievements over the past 12 years, including involvement in the first NDIS trials.

“I am proud to say that Northcott was an integral part of the initial NDIS roll-out in the Nepean Blue Mountains area, and partnered closely with the National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA) as we all navigated unchartered waters for the sector,” says Lee.

“Our history in this area has always seen us forge strong relationships with families and children through our therapy and family supports, which continues with what is now our Coordination of Supports team.”
