Meet Tanya, a Customer Partner in Wollongong

News

Tanya first connected with Northcott to access early intervention support for her daughter Charlotte when she was toddler. With Northcott’s support, Tanya accessed NDIS funding and services that have been vital for Charlotte’s development. Her positive experience with the team, combined with shared values, motivated Tanya to apply for the role of an Individual Plan Advisor several years ago. Now as a Customer Partner Tanya enjoys building close connections with her customers, supporting them to achieve their goals, whatever they may be.

Tell us a little bit about yourself.

I am a strong believer that we are all capable of achieving whatever we put our mind to, sometimes we may just need a little help or adjusting to the task to achieve this. I consider myself as an advocate and am happy to speak up if I see an injustice occurring.

I am a very proud Mum to two of the most sensitive, empathetic, and gorgeous girls in the world. I have a very full and busy life with them and their dad who provides as much support to his girls as he can, including dad jokes that really aren’t that funny, but we still laugh at them to make him feel good.

In my spare time, I love reading, mostly romance novels, and listening to music. My girls and I often can be heard singing and dancing around the home, ending in much laughter and at times embarrassment.

Life outside of work consists of spending time with my family and friends. Life is too short and needs to be embraced.

Tell us about your role as a Customer Partner at Northcott?

I think my role is one of the best at Northcott. I get to listen and support our customers to work on and achieve their goals.

I receive feedback (the good, the bad & the ugly) and ensure this gets to the right people so we can make changes and ensure our customers’ journeys with Northcott are positive and life-changing.

What led you to work at Northcott?

My daughter had been receiving services through Northcott’s early intervention program and which supported us to get her onto the NDIS.

What I experienced then made me believe in the core values Northcott displays. We were treated as a part of the big Northcott family. It didn’t matter which office we went to, we were treated with respect and valued. The office always appeared to be a fun environment to be around. When the role of Individual Plan Advisor (IPA) came up, I felt I would be a good fit based on the environment I had seen and my skill set.

What is the most satisfying part of your role?

I love knowing that a customer has achieved their goal, or that they are very happy or proud with themselves for the steps they have made towards those goals.

The amazing stories I get to hear from our customers about what is happening for them in working towards their independence and the impact this has on them and their family is very special.

What is the most challenging part of your job?

It’s always challenging trying to get the funding that is in a customer’s plan to stretch and go as far as possible so they can participate in the programs and activities they want to.

Fun fact!

Tanya’s daughter Charlotte was featured on the cover of the 2016-2017 Northcott Annual Report and recently participated in our iSplash Learn to Swim program.
