Northcott’s 2019 Volunteer of the Year recognised for mentoring contribution

Congratulations to Northcott’s 2019 Volunteer of the Year, Lee Price, a volunteer mentor from our Mentoring Managers Program.

Lee, who owns several businesses including a conflict management consultancy in the building and construction industry, has been involved with the Mentoring Managers Program for several years. This initiative matches Northcott managers with skilled external managers who are willing to share their expertise, experiences and skills to develop leadership capability within Northcott.

Lee was initially paired with Northcott’s Human Resources Manager Dean Burrows, who says that with Lee’s support, he was able to develop his communication techniques to reduce the potential for conflict and improve collaboration with key stakeholders.

Lee has recently begun working with Northcott Innovation’s Executive Director, Samantha Frain, and will also continue to generously give his time to Dean when needed.

As is often the case with volunteers, Lee is humble and reserved about the recognition and his contributions.

With no previous involvement with Northcott or the disability sector, Lee says being part of this program has been a good opportunity to be involved in a different area.

“The passion of the staff working here is totally different to outside this area. If they ask questions, I try to give the right answers.  What Northcott does is just fantastic from my perspective. I love the challenges that the staff have on a daily basis, so I think it’s great to be able to help them. I greatly appreciate having this opportunity.”

“I’ll keep going as long as Northcott wants and needs me. I’m very happy to do it.”
