About the Role
Join Northcott as our Legal & Risk Manager and play a key role in strengthening enterprise risk management, regulatory governance and legal support across one of Australia's largest disability service providers. Reporting to the Executive General Manager Risk & Safeguarding, you will coordinate and continuously improve Northcott's enterprise risk and regulatory governance arrangements.
Working closely with Executive leaders, enterprise risk owners and specialist functions, you will provide practical risk, legal and regulatory guidance within your capability and delegated authority. You will help leaders translate obligations and risk information into clear controls, treatments, escalation and decisions.
- Lead the implementation and continuous improvement of Northcott's enterprise risk management framework.
- Coordinate enterprise risk registers, risk appetite, key risk indicators, treatments, reporting and escalation processes.
- Support the Executive Enterprise Risk Steering Committee through agendas, papers, dashboards, minutes and action tracking.
- Provide practical legal, regulatory and governance guidance within professional competence and delegated authority.
- Coordinate compliance obligations, regulatory matters, privacy, contracts, claims, disputes and external legal support.
- Build risk capability across leaders and risk owners through practical tools, coaching and constructive challenge.

About You
As Legal & Risk Manager, you will:
- Bring relevant experience across enterprise risk, regulatory affairs, governance, compliance, legal operations or a comparable professional environment.
- Demonstrate applied knowledge of enterprise risk management, governance and regulatory compliance in a complex or highly regulated organisation.
- Have experience applying risk management frameworks and working with risk registers, controls, treatments, reporting and governance processes.
- Possess strong legal and regulatory literacy, including the ability to interpret legislation, contracts, regulator requirements and governance documents.
- Demonstrate strong analytical judgement and the ability to work through complex and sensitive matters using evidence, precedent and risk-based reasoning.
- Be a confident stakeholder manager who can influence senior leaders, work across functions and provide constructive challenge while preserving accountable ownership.
- Bring clear written communication, drafting and negotiation skills suitable for senior managers, Executives and governance forums.
- Have strong planning, prioritisation and matter-management discipline across sensitive and competing demands.
- Hold a relevant tertiary qualification or equivalent substantial professional capability in law, risk, governance, compliance, business or a related discipline.
- Bring experience in disability, health, human services, government or another highly regulated sector, which will be highly regarded.
