Therapy services during the
Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic
We are offering a wide range of Therapy services
Northcott continues to offer a range of services, including: speech pathology, occupational therapy, physiotherapy, group therapy plus dietetics and social work.
We are still able to provide services at a variety of locations to suit our customers, such as in our consulting rooms, homes and schools. Due to the current pandemic we now offer telehealth options for many of these services. Telehealth is a good option for any customers that are in isolation.
Changes in response to Coronavirus outbreaks
We have been asked by NSW Health to change the way that we provide support. These changes are designed to stop the spread of the virus and keep everyone safe.
If you attend a Northcott centre-based service, all of our Support Workers will be wearing a face mask while they support you.
Our measures to keep safe continue
Across Northcott we are also using other measures to stay safe.
Before your therapist visits you at home, they will be asking you a few screening questions. They will probably call you beforehand, but may also ask you some questions at the front door before they come in.
They will ask you if you, or anybody in your household, have been to any COVID-19 hotspots or critical locations (where you must get immediately tested and self-isolate). You can find an up-to-date list of the hotspots and critical locations on the NSW Government website. They will also check to make sure that nobody has any flu-like symptoms, or if anybody is self-isolating in the home.
There are no right or wrong answers to these questions. We are just making sure that our customers and staff stay safe and healthy. This means that our therapists are also not spreading illness through the community as they go from appointment to appointment.
Other ways that we stay safe are:
• All of our staff undertake a self-evaluation process around their health every day before coming to work. If they are sick, they stay at home and get tested for COVID-19.
• Infection control, hygiene and hand washing are all enforced and all staff have received extra compulsory training in these areas.
Some schools, particularly those in hotspots and critical locations, have advised us that we cannot provide Therapy services at the school premises. If your child normally has their Therapy session at school, please check with the school first to see if they are permitting Therapy at school. If they are not, please contact us and we can always rearrange your Therapy session for another location.
