About The Role

About the role:

We require a dedicated, enthusiastic Occupational Therapist to join our vibrant Northcott therapy team. Based in Woden and servicing the Canberra region, you will report to the Service Manager and provide timely, evidence based and person-centred Occupational Therapy services to people of a range of ages and disabilities. 

In this role you will:

  • Manage a caseload of children, young people and adults with a range of disabilities (i.e. Autism Spectrum Disorder, Intellectual and Physical Disability). The option to specialise in a particular clinical area, such as physical disability or neurodevelopmental, is possible and we encourage you to discuss your preferences with us.
  • Work with customers and families to identify strengths, skills and goals.
  • Use appropriate assessment tools and methods to assess strengths and areas of development, in order to identify suitable intervention strategies.
  • Always work on "best practice" solutions for our customers.
  • Provide centre and community based therapies.
  • Proactively contribute to the ongoing development of professional knowledge and skills in Occupational Therapy.

Requirements:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Occupational Therapy.
  • Current AHPRA registration.
  • Some post graduate Occupational Therapy experience is highly desirable.
  • Understanding of the NDIS and experience working in a fee for service model.
  • Excellent communication skills – written, oral and listening.
  • Ability and commitment to work with a customer-centred approach.
  • Ability to work autonomously.
  • Ability to work in a multidisciplinary team with Occupational Therapists, Speech Pathologists and Physiotherapists.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage a caseload and administrative responsibilities in an efficient and effective manner.
  • Computer literate and familiar with using customer record systems.
  • Current First Aid Certificate (including CPR) or willing to obtain.
  • NDIS Worker Check
  • Working with Vulnerable People card (ACT Only) - or willing to obtain 
  • Must have a valid driver's licence and willingness to travel as required.
  • Evidence of compliance with any Public Health Orders applicable at the time – including evidence of a COVID-19 vaccination or medical contraindication certificate if applicable to you.
