About the Role:

This role is a Support Worker level 3 located in North Western Sydney. The role offers permanent full time hours. As senior support worker you will be responsible for supporting the centre based coordinator with the day to day operation of centre based programs. The role assists with coordination, supervision and facilitation of activities within the programs in accordance with the Policies and Procedures of Northcott and the Disability Services Standards.

Key components of the role include but are not limited to:

  • Collaboration with internal and external stakeholders
  • Support customers to achieve individual goals
  • Ethical Behaviour - ensures their dealings with all others are non-discriminatory, respectful, consistent, timely and equitable.
  • Problem Solving & Decision Making - defines extent of problem areas and develops solutions.
  • Communication - listens effectively, conveys and receives ideas, information and direction
  • Safety - has a strong understanding of WHS principles and applies these in the workplace

What we are looking for from you:

  • Commitment to a person centred work ethic
  • Ability to establish effective and professional working relationships with customers
  • Ability to work autonomously and within a team.
  • Highly developed communication, problem solving and organisational skills
  • Ability to motivate and encourage customers in all activities
  • Ability to facilitate group and individual activities

Essential Criteria for the role:

  • First Aid Certificate
  • Working with children’s check
  • Police Check – less then 6 months old
  • Driver’s License
  • Knowledge of the NSW Disability Standards
  • Knowledge of WHS principles including safe manual handling procedures
  • Ability to drive a 12 seater van desired
  • Proficiency in Microsoft office desired
