About the role:

Northcott is currently looking for committed, friendly and professional individuals  to join our Everyday Life Skills, Short Breaks & Outings, In-home & Community and Vocational Skills team in Western Sydney on a casual basis. We are looking for Support Workers to actively engage with our valued customers from Seven Hills/ Blacktown to Penrith and the foot of the Blue Mountains. This role has many facets involved with a key focus on having fun and bringing a smile to work everyday.

This is a challenging but rewarding opportunity for you to actively support the individual needs of our customers and support them in reaching their goals. Typical duties may include: 

In-home and Community supports can include:

  • Enabling our customers to be part of their local community through in-home and community supports
  • Support our customers with attending appointments or recreational events

Everyday Life Skills supports can include:

  • Centre-based skills development sessions and workshops which support our customers to reach their goals through activities such as cooking and budgeting
  • Helping to encourage and develop everyday living skills in line with our customers' NDIS plans.

    Short Breaks and Outings supports can include:

  • Involvement in short breaks and outings to meet new friends, develop new skills or just have a break from everyday life.
  • Empower our valued customers to participate in new experiences and experience new opportunities

Vocational Skills Training and Employment can include:

  • Community engagement and socialisation
  • Planning and preparation
  • Handling money
  • Finding suitable and tailored work experience
  • Time management

About You:

  • Availability to work short, 2 hour shifts up to 8 hour shifts
  • Ability to motivate and encourage customers in all activities
  • Have a specific area of interest such as photography, video editing, cooking, arts and crafts, music, sport and fitness is preferred
  • Commitment to equality and anti-discrimination
  • Commitment to a person centred work ethic

Essential Criteria :

  • A commitment to supporting and promoting the individual needs of our customers
  • The ability to develop positive relationships with our customers and to support their individual care plans, as appropriate
  • Excellent verbal and written communication 
  • Flexibility to work on a rotating roster; you will be required to work across morning, afternoon and active night shifts, including weekend and public holiday shifts
  • Experience with mental health and/or complex and challenging behaviours will be highly regarded
  • A current Full Australian Drivers Licence
  • Working With Children Check (or willingness to obtain) 
  • National Police Check (or willingness to obtain) 
  • Current First Aid and CPR certificate (or willingness to obtain)
